The DOs and DON’Ts of Kratom

The other day I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Mr. Cory Kilheeney of MBC Botanicals and the owner MBC Kava Korner bar and cafe eatery in Trucksville, PA to discuss some key points about Kratom and he was kind enough to ask his customers what they thought would be a good list for a DO and Don’t list for users of Kratom.

DO

  • drink plenty of water throughout the day when taking kratom,
  • do a test spot by putting a little bit of kratom under your lip to make sure that you don’t have any adverse allergy reaction towards kratom if you are new to Kratom
  • do a low dose batch test with every new batch purchase so you know it’s potency. Not all kratom is created equal
  • do change up your strains and where you buy from so you don’t develop a tolerance towards a particular strain or brand
  • do add magnesium to your diet, plant fibers tend to be a little constipating if used regularly
  • do consult your doctor is you are currently taking medications
  • do measure out your doses with a gram scale, measuring with a teaspoon is very inaccurate.
  • do take on an empty stomach and then eat about an hour later
  • do your homework on what strains are and how they are suppose to effect you

DON’T

  • once you hit that sweet spot don’t up your dosage thinking it will make things even more sweet, most likely you will end up with a wicked migraine and nausea
  • don’t mix Kratom with other drugs
  • don’t think you need a lot for your first dose, start off slowly with a gram or two depending on your general tolerance towards medications
  • if it doesn’t seem to work the way you liek don’t follow-up with a larger dose, wait about three hours or more and then try a new dose
  • don’t buy from places that don’t specialize in Kratom, a convenience store carries what will appeal visual to their consumers not what will be more effective
  • don’t mix your meds with kratom, space the two apart by several hours and again please consult your doctor first
  • don’t assume if it worked for your friend that it will work for you. each case is different, each strain is different. It’s all trial and error.

All in all Kratom is an amazing herbal supplement if you do it properly, understand it’s purpose and educate yourself on the various strains. You are always welcome to ask us here at Little Leafs United or post a question on the forums. We have some amazing minds behind LLU and they are all very sweet, warm and open to answering any questions one might have.
